So, basically I'm wrong...

I always think of kinetic energy as 'heat' energy - the heat given off by the movement of molecules. SO, when someone in my class had a picture of two balloons - one full (potential) and one balloon releasing its air (kinetic) - I shamelessly said, "But there's no heat!!!"

Kinetic is the energy of movement - not JUST of molecules. In our Chemistry unit, you need to understand that we measure kinetic energy by heat/thermometer. However, the picture of the balloon wasn't really wrong - just in wrong in the case of Chemistry, not in the sense of say, physics.

Sorry, I can't remember who had that picture. I do remember finding the reference to that picture and it being on a grade 2 Glogster Poster. Check references... even of your teachers.

Wow!!! Some of your final experiments are amazing!!!! They are pouring in! I have given some of you extensions. Let's just review when things are due...

7/8A and 8B - June 5th - it should be in by now...

8D - June 6th  - most of you asked to hand it in   Monday...latest...

7B and 7C - June 10th

7D and 8C - June 11th

After you hand in your document to me via the Cloud, then you can start to work on your presentation. We will not be doing oral presentations in the class, instead, we will have a Science Expo!!!!

Let's fill the gym with our cool science experiments and give everyone in the intermediate division a chance to show off all of their hard work!

The Science Expo will be JUNE 18th - the last four periods. It will be a celebration of science, not a competition.
